The Adorers of the Europe-Africa Province warn of the "false idea of voluntariness" that prevails among the different types of abuse and exploitation that are currently on the rise among young people. In particular, they highlight the phenomenon of "sugar daddies", whereby sexual relations are established between older and younger people in exchange for gifts or money.
According to recently published data, more than 400.000 young people in Spain are registered on this type of site. In fact, "it is becoming normalised among adolescents as a job that will allow them to live comfortably". This is how Susana Pulido, coordinator of the Balearic Islands delegation of the Amaranta Solidarity Foundation of Adorers, where they carry out actions of accompaniment and intervention with young women who are victims of gender-based violence, explains it.
